Project organizaion

The Trp study was a much smaller project than the Energy and Society and the Resources and Raw Materials studies. The project group consisted of two people, working less than full time for 2 1/2 years. There was also a reference group for the project. This reference group, appointed by TRD, had six members, three of whom were also members of TRD. The project group and the reference group met for discussions a couple of times each year. The reference group possessed considerable professional knowledge in the field of transport research and transport policy. It included several professors with long experience of transport research, an administrator from the Ministry of Transport, etc. The project group had no previous experience of transport research but were specialists in long-range planning methodology and systems analysis. They also had general experience of various areas relevant to transport research (economics, statistics, technical areas etc). They participated in the project as part of a broader research programme concerned with the methodology of planning and futures studies.
